Terms of Use

The service

Mental Health: Smile is a self-reflection tool that offers short self-tests, guided courses, and a private journal to help you notice patterns in your mood and thinking. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or therapy, and using it does not create a doctor-patient or therapist-client relationship of any kind. If you are in crisis, or think you may harm yourself or someone else, contact local emergency services immediately instead of using this app. Journal replies, whether generated on your device or by an AI model when you turn on AI replies, are automated, may be inaccurate, and are not advice.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for how you use Smile and for the accuracy of anything you type into it, including journal entries and profile details. You agree not to use the app for anything unlawful, and you understand that the self-tests give general self-reflection scores rather than clinical results. Keep your device secure, since anyone with access to your unlocked phone can open the app and read what you have saved.

Subscriptions and trials

Premium is offered as a weekly subscription with a 3-day free trial, as a yearly subscription with no trial, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. All are billed through Google Play or the App Store, which show the price and renewal date before you confirm. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Cancel any time in Google Play or your Apple ID settings; cancelling stops future renewals but does not refund the current period. The lifetime purchase does not renew. Refunds follow Google Play or Apple policy.

Ads and unlocks

On the Android free plan, Smile may show a rewarded ad through Google AdMob so you can unlock a single premium item, such as one extra self-test. Watching an ad is always optional, never required to use the core features of the app, and Premium subscribers never see ads. We rely on Google AdMob to serve and measure these ads inside the app.

Content

Everything we built, including the self-tests, courses, illustrations, wording, and app design, belongs to us or our licensors, and you may not copy or redistribute it outside normal use of the app. Anything you write, such as journal entries or profile details, belongs to you; we do not claim ownership of it, and because it stays on your device unless you turn on AI replies, we do not access, publish, or share it.

Acceptable use

Do not try to reverse engineer, decompile, or interfere with the app's normal operation, and do not use it to store or transmit content that is illegal, abusive, or infringes someone else's rights. We may restrict or discontinue the app for users who abuse it in ways that risk the service for everyone else, though because there are no accounts, this mainly means removing the app from distribution.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep Smile working well, but we do not guarantee the app will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every phone or operating system version. We may add, change, or remove features, including free-tier limits and ad behavior, as the app evolves. We will try to flag significant changes inside the app, but ordinary updates do not require separate notice.

Liability

Smile is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind, and using it is at your own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including decisions you make based on self-test scores or journal reflections. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited where you live.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Indonesia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and any dispute arising from your use of Smile will be handled under that law. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest of the terms remain in effect. This section does not remove any consumer protection you are entitled to under the law of your own country.

Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to mochitg45@gmail.com, and we will do our best to reply promptly. If you contact Google Play or Apple support about a billing issue, they can usually resolve it faster than we can, since they process the payment directly.
